Missing The Winter Season

When my husband left the military we moved back to the states, Florida to be exact. Me being a person who loves autumn and winter, I knew Florida would be a challenge. No turning of leaves to orange and red, no bare trees in the winter and snow covering everything. Just the thought that I was going to miss watching the snow fall was making me sad. So, this poem was inspired by these feelings. Remember, at this point I am still trying out freeform structure. Here it goes.

Snow

Oh how dear you are to me

How else would I welcome you,

With your so ever shining brightness

No warmth could replace you

Oh how dear you are to me

With hands outstretched; no cover on

Fear to make you disappear

Oh I waited a while for your return,

And had to skip a while as well

My patience was short to see you fall

Everything touched, you covered

The thick blanket of white

Oh I dear say, I missed you!
