Let Not Falsehood Conquer The Truth

A couple of days ago I read an article about Julian Assange, the journalist who is in jail for reporting the truth. The same journalist who was pretty much a prisoner in a consulate for years, not able to see his family, due to being persecuted by the US. He reported about a crime that cost lives, and the culprits have yet to be punished. Nevertheless, the politicians choose to punish him instead, for making it known to the world what heinous crimes were committed on innocent people. I don’t like being political on my blog; however, I am for freedom of speech and freedom of press. Without such we would never know the truth about what is going on in the world. We would always be fed an agenda, and I couldn’t live with that. So, I respect journalists who put their lives on the line to report the truth and nothing but the truth!

After I read the article, I felt like I had to put my emotions on paper. I felt sad for him and his family. I felt sad for the innocent people who died. I felt sad for our freedoms who are being infringed on every single day, and if we allow people like Assange to go to jail, we allow falsehood to conquer truth.

I hope Julian will soon be free and reunited with his family, and with no further ado here is the poem:

The Accomplice

You say you want the truth

An eye for an eye

A tooth for a tooth

And yet you are weak

You are weak and scared

Incarcerating the truthful

Wo cared then shared- who dared

Now living a nightmare in solitude

You never wanted precision

You wanted to be sheep

Following others and their decisions

Leading straight to the cliff

You and your feeble mind

Being part of the problem

On the paper you have signed

“I am an accomplice”
