The Rat Race We Call Life

This poem was inspired by life itself. The journey that all humans go from baby to adulthood. All the challenges and achievements, but predominantly I want to focus on the rat race that many lead. We run from one phase in life to another, sometimes involuntarily. Such is life right. Here goes the poem.

Not Prepared

I am running

I can almost see it,

Past the books and the rooms,

And the white powder on the board too

I am running

Up the steps,

yarn dangling on my face

I feel watched

I am running

I can almost see it

Past the paper,

And my life experiences too

I am running

Up the latter,

Weight on my shoulders

I feel important

I am running

I can almost see it

Past the car and the grant entrance,

And the pool too

I am running

Up the stage

Lights all around me,

I feel too old

I am running

I can almost see it

Past the dirt and the hole,

And the crying crowd too

I was running

I could not see it

What this life really was

Now I am not prepared!
