Walking in nature is such a refreshing activity. It helps with creativity and recharging ones batteries. I always feel at peace when walking in nature, especially when the weather becomes a bit more chilly. Layers and more layers will do the trick. As we are getting closer to winter, the temperature has definitely dropped a bit here in Germany, but we usually don’t see any snow in my area until Jan or Feb. So you can imagine my surprise when I went spontaneously hiking last weekend, and I found a bit of snow on the mountains of Heidelberg. I was ecstatic and could have walked for hours in the forest. Unfortunately, I wasn’t dressed for that weather, since this was a spontaneous trip and I hadn’t expected snow. It was bittersweet to leave, but I was quite frozen through. I wrote a poem about this day. Here it goes.
First Snow
-Imagine my surprise today
To spot you in the foggy gray
Blanketing the leaf
-Crystals forming purest snow
Emitting a most marvelous glow
All forgotten was my grief
-Touching it with my bare hand
Feeling gratitude for the covered woodland
Oh what wonderful relief
